Carly presented her new cabaret show Somebody to Love: My Musical Tribute To Freddie Mercury at the Rrazz Room in San Francisco’s Nikko Hote in October 2010 and again in May 2011. Carly was Queen For A Day, paid homage to her musical idol, and shared historic and unknown facts about Mercury’s public and personal lifestyle, with special guest star Katya Smirnoff-Skye and musical direction by Joe Wicht. The show was wildly popular, critically aclaimed, and included popular songs from Queen’s extensive repertoire, as well as solo work written by Freddie Mercury without Queen. Rare musical material and collaborations were featured in this tribute to the rock tenor who flaunted his four-octave range, charmed his audiences, and lived his 45 years to the fullest.

During the summer of 2010, Carly presented six diverse showcases and co-hosted four evenings of open mics featuring talented performers from professional Bay Area musical theaters and groups including 42nd Street Moon, Lamplighters, The SF Gay Men’s Chorus and vocal artists from the local cabaret and performance oeuvre at the Eureka Theater in San Francisco. Carly’s desire was to showcase up-and-coming cabaret singers, alongside well seasoned entertainers, and people who wanted to hone their craft with performing experience. It was a place to try out that new song, invite some friends and family to watch you perform, and work with professional musicians.

Bewitched, Bothered and Bipolar was born and debuted at Martuni’s in San Francisco on November 1, 2009. Musical Direction by Joe Wicht helped this winning production soar. Ozard gently and humorously explains the ups and downs of struggling with bipolar disorder, with humorous effects along with a hilarious re-write of “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” by local lyricist Tom Orr.  Acoustic guitar and back-up vocals are featured by Brendan Getzell and Jennifer Martinelli.  Musical selections include works by Leonard Bernstein, Craig Carnelia, Alanis Morisette, Laura Nyro, Andre & Dory Previn, Rodgers & Hart, Marvin Hamlisch, Queen and more. Encore performances of the show played the Eureka Theatre on January 9, 2010 and the Rrazz Room April 24, 2010.

Bitter and Be Gay was born in 2007 and was debuted in September of 2008 at the Octavia Lounge in San Francisco. The show faces the struggles of a heterosexual woman looking for love in all the wrong places. Carly tells her comic tales of dating in the theatre community and that most of the men who fit her fancy turn out to be gay. The title is a play on words based on the soprano aria from Candide’s “Glitter and Be Gay”. With musical numbers from Broadway musicals, Queen, Carly Simon and the help of local lyricist Tom Orr, Carly delivers a bitter, sarcastic and yet poignant production, giving the audience a different look into the lives of women in the performing industry. “Clown Prince of Cabaret” Shawn Ryan co-wrote the script,  and the “Crown Prince of Cabaret” Barry Lloyd brilliantly musically directed this humorous show. Carly gained the title of “The Kathy Griffin of Cabaret” from Chad Jones, a critic, supportive of local theatre and cabaret.
